I began sailing in an Optimist when I was 6 years old. Both of my parents were coaches at the Salinas Yacht Club in Ecuador, so I began my sailing journey there with them. Until I turned 9, I lived in Ecuador, so all my initial years in the sport were spent in that magical country. While I had excellent coaches throughout my career, my initial coaches, including my mom, were exceptional. I recall those years in Ecuador as very joyful, living by the sea, sailing, swimming and fishing.
During my four years on the Opti Race Team, I achieved excellent results. I qualified for the Argentine National Team on multiple occasions, representing my country in two Optimist World Championships, three South American Championships, and one North American Championship. I finished in the top 3 in many local regattas and won the Team Racing National Championship twice.
In my Opti career, I became a skilled sailor, excelling in kinetics and boat speed. However, what stands out the most are the friends I made along the way. These friends, whom I have shared my life with since then, come from all around the globe, and it's always fun to see them again after many years.
My most memorable experiences come from the Optimist Class.
